We attended a fire safety workshop and learned that in case of a fire, our family should have a rendezvous point away from the house. We decided to do some practice fire drills to teach our kids that in case of fire, we should quickly exit the house, and then meet up at the mailbox. We did several fire drills, exiting the house from various points. Then I privately asked my husband if we could do one more where I did it the wrong way. He agreed, so we did one more.
This time, my husband and sons went to the mailbox quickly, but before I left the house, I stopped to pick out movies that I didn’t want to get burned up in “the fire." When I finally arrived at our rendezvous point, I showed them all the movies I rescued.
My husband said to the boys, “What did Mommy do wrong?”
Our 6-yr-old looked at the collection of movies I had and said, “Mommy forgot to grab ‘The Office’ videos.”
